Dr. Allen L. Spires was born on August 7th, 1959 in Lamesa, Texas. At a young age, he moved to Mer Rouge, where his mother was born and raised. He attended and graduated from Prairie View Academy in Bastrop. After graduating, he attended Texas Tech University for his undergraduate studies, graduating in 1980. Afterward, he attended medical school at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, graduating in 1985. Dr. Spires then completed his residency at EA Conway Medical Center in Monroe, finishing in 1986. He then moved back home to Mer Rouge where he opened his family practice. He has since lived and worked in Mer Rouge for the last 38 years.

He married his loving wife, Lori, in 1989. Together, they had five children; Allen (b.1990), Sam (b.1992), Leslie (b.1994), George (b.1996), and Joseph (b.1998). The entire family still lives and works in Mer Rouge, carrying on the family tradition of living and serving their community. In his spare time, Dr. Spires enjoys flying airplanes, riding horses, playing the fiddle, and spending precious time with his children and grandchildren.
